New Year, New Possibilities #reflectwithMe
Dear friends,
That’s a wrap on 2024. However, the reality is that my 2024 had many endings and beginnings. Along with the starts and stops, I can think of several key 2024 moments that were not on my radar one year ago. As we acknowledge the passing of another year and plan for the year to come, hold some space for possibility. There is nothing wrong with goal setting, intentions, and taking aligned action towards the future you, but also leave room for life to surprise you.
What are some ways we can be open to unexpected opportunities?
Set goals and intentions that focus on how you want to feel, but be flexible with the what.
I was reflecting on 2024 and the things I achieved, along with those I wanted, but that haven’t happened. As I journaled through it, I realized that I don’t have to chase specific things in 2025, I could focus on creating the feelings I desire. I want to feel strong and empowered, not just physically, but overall strong in myself. There isn’t anything wrong with setting a specific goal that helps you achieve a feeling. Maybe that looks like hitting PBs in the gym or levelling up in your career, but if the feeling is what’s most important to you there might be more than one way to get there.
Know your highest values and be ready to pivot.
It’s a fact that life changes. Maybe you set a goal at the beginning of the year that now doesn’t feel like it fits with where things have been going. While there is a time to dig in your heels and be disciplined and dedicated, it’s also okay to take a moment to re-evaluate and maybe even change your goals. Know what your key or highest values are, they are generally going to be the ones that remain fairly constant, but they might shift in priority as you go through different life stages. If your goal is starting to feel like a burden or a bit misaligned with how your life is going part way into the year, it might be time to check your goal against your values and any priority shifts that may have occurred.
Leave space for curiosity and learning.
The beautiful thing about learning is that there’s something you don’t know and you can embark on a journey to find out more about it. That journey is powerful, it could change your perspective, develop new skills, and create opportunities you might not have considered before because you didn’t know about them. If you’re setting goals or intentions for 2025, set one that will allow you to learn and then be open to what you discover on that journey.
These are just a few ways I’ve found to keep things open for the wonderful, unexpected, spontaneous aspects of a year, and more importantly, of your life.
Wishing you a marvellous 2025, filled with more opportunity than you knew was possible <3
